Jonathan is a Ph.D. student focusing on quantifying the environmental implications of CO2-Bulk energy storage (CO2-BES). CO2-BES is an emerging approach to grid level energy storage that leverages the buoyancy of supercritical CO2 with sedimentary basin geothermal resources to store and produce energy. Electricity is stored by injecting CO2 into these porous and permeable basins and dispatched by producing the CO2 after it has been geothermally heated CO2 in order to generate electricity.
