Advisor: Jiyoung Lee, College of Public Health, Division of Environmental Health Sciences and Department of Food Science and Technology
Research Interests: Environmental microbiology, waterborne and foodborne pathogens
Jiyoung's primary research interest is food safety and food security. More specifically, Jiyoung is doing research to investigate internalization of human pathogens in plant and to develop inactivation methods to remove the internalized pathogens in fresh produce effectively. He is also working on microbial source tracking for studying the linkage between water contamination and food safety. Jiyoung received a B.S. from the Division of Applied Biology and Chemistry from Kyungpook National University in Korea and a Master degree from Department of Food Science and Technology in the Ohio State University.
