Jonathan Ogland-Hand awarded scholarship by Geothermal Resources Council

Jonathan Ogland-Hand has been awarded a scholarship by the Geothermal Resources Council (GRC), which organizes the largest geothermal conference in North America.  Mr. Ogland-Hand received one of only three awards for his work on using geothermal resources to store and dispatch excess electricity (e.g., from wind and solar) and how such an "Earth Battery" could fit into regional electricity systems.  Mr. Ogland-Hand is a Ph.D. student in the Environmental Science Graduate Program and is advised by Prof. Jeffrey M. Bielicki.  Prof. Bielicki holds a joint appointment in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geodetic Engineering and the John Glenn College of Public Affairs.
